Rationale
I got the idioms “Spill the beans,” and “Cold feet.” For my research I looked into each idiom and chose a simple meaning for each. I wanted to reflect these messages in each of my illustrations in a way that anyone can understand.
The design approach was inspired by old children’s books with the use of hatching and over exaggeration of designs. The graphic elements reflect the ideas of each idiom in their own way. For “spill the beans” I wanted something to actually be spilling and show that their secrets are being poured out to others. For “cold feet” I wanted to show something looking away from a difficult path because they are too nervous or scared to face the event ahead of them.
